Always Fresh, Always The Best
With local supermarkets just down the block for many people in Portland,
why would anyone choose to take a drive out to Sauvie Island just
for produce? It's simple: volume, price, and quality!
Our
goal at the Pumpkin Patch is to offer large amounts of any single
fruit or vegetable at farm-direct prices. What's more, our
produce is hand-harvested and PICKED DAILY from the field, ensuring
the freshest fruits and vegetables you can buy.
Our
colorful market is filled with more than 40 in-season fruits and
vegetables grown right here on the farm. For additional variety,
we hand-select other fresh produce from neighboring farms to suit
our customer's needs. As always, our customers enjoy a wide selection
of locally grown farm fresh, hand-harvested and U-pick
produce.
The market opens at the beginning of June, when the strawberries
are ripe, and closes in November when harvest is over. Each month
brings with it more produce until we're bursting at the seams
by October!
Visit
the Pumpkin Patch market and discover the special crops that give
the farm its well-known name. Some crops will only last a short
time, while others enjoy the longevity of the season.
In
June we kick off the season with strawberries. Raspberries are
available quickly thereafter. We also offer plenty of cabbage,
cauliflower, and broccoli.
July's
heat quickly ripens the blueberries, apricots, marionberries,
cherries, potatoes, Walla Walla onions, green beans, pickling
cucumbers, Hermiston watermelon, and the biggie ... sweet corn!
This includes "How Sweet It Is" white corn, "Peaches-'n-Cream"
bicolor corn, and Golden Jubilee super sweet corn.
August
weather introduces fresh peaches and nectarines.
September
blows in apples and pears galore from Hood River and our farm,
as well as tomatoes, peppers, and another biggie ... winter
squash, in every imaginable variety!
Finally,
the month of October draws a standing ovation for brussel sprouts,
Indian corn, decorative & birdhouse gourds, cornstalks, hay
bales, and, of course, the largest supply of pumpkins
found in Oregon!
Be
sure to browse the produce availability
list for other fruits and vegetables at the Pumpkin Patch
during the year. You'll find our doors open daily from 9 AM until
6 PM. We gladly accept cash, checks, visa, and mastercard.
***Pumpkin
Patch practices sustainable agriculture***
The Food Alliance, a non-profit organization promoting earth
and worker-friendly farming practices, announces its endorsement
of The Pumpkin Patch, a popular Sauvie Island produce farm. Produce
grown and sold at The Pumpkin Patch will now carry the Food Alliance
seal of approval, which assures consumers of a farm's commitment
to environmental responsibility and human resource development.
The Food Alliance is a coalition of farmers, consumers, scientists,
grocers, processors, distributors, farm worker representatives,
and environmentalists working together to ensure that our children
and grandchildren have "Good Food for a Healthy Future".
The Food Alliance endorses farms that meet or exceed strict eligibility
requirements in three areas: pest and disease management, soil
and water conservation and human resource development. The Pumpkin
Patch now joins a small, elite group of Northwest farmers dedicated
to what has become known as "sustainable agriculture".
Look for The Food Alliance seal of approval in your grocery stores
today. You'll find Pumpkin Patch produce under our wholesale name
"Delta Farms".
