It's a Tradition!

Tradition continues to define the family even today. In Oregon, the Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island continues to be a family tradition for over 30 years. The Pumpkin Patch in October is like a carnival in the country. Come join the parade of people for food and fun.

You, your family, and your friends won't want to miss the unique opportunities found only at our farm this time of year. One of our main attractions is our 100 year old red animal barn. Years ago, this barn served as a dairy barn and it still stands today in its original state - rustic and antique. The inside has been converted into stalls to house the farm animals that folks of all ages love to see. Come catch a glimpse, (not to mention a whiff,) of the pigs, cows, horses, ducks, bunnies, birds, goats, sheep. If you're lucky, you might even experience a full-grown llama, a colorful turkey, or a family of wiry pot-bellied pigs!

After a stroll among the animals you'll want to hitch a free ride, (when you purchase a pumpkin), on a John Deere green (tractor). Our hayrides offer Daily rides to the U-pick pumpkin fields, beginning at noon, where you are sure to find that perfect pumpkin. We've got all sizes at the Pumpkin Patch, from 300 pound "moon" pumpkins to baseball-size "mini-pumpkins". We even grow white "spooky" pumpkins!

After choosing the perfect jack-o-lantern, be sure to challenge your problem-solving skills with our hay maze. It is a walk-through maze. The hay maze, along with our Giant free hay pyramid, is constructed using 2000 pound hay bales, both having twists and turns and secret passages!

Also, come out and challenge The MAiZE, our tricky 5 acre corn maze. The MAiZE is open daily through October, including weekend nights ...so bring your flashlights! The MAiZE will take a haunted twist: from 7pm until 10pm.

Along with the other activities, a wander through the Pumpkin Cottage, a delightful farm-style gift shop, is always a must. We feature items for all sizes and all budgets, with a plethora of farm and Pumpkin Patch memorabilia, unique home decor, and gifts for anyone on your buying list. The Pumpkin Cottage is constantly changing and adding new themes as well as incorporating unique holiday items. Be sure to stop in each time that you visit to see what's new.

As you, your family & friends enjoy the festival here with the Pumpkin Patch crew, we're sure you won't want to miss the aroma of freshly grilled foods. Should your tummy tempt you, please stop in at our Pumpkin Patch Patio Café for scrumptious hamburgers, hotdogs, gardenburgers™, grilled chicken fajitas, freshly made hot elephant ears, and freshly poured carmel apples made with apples from Hood River, and fresh-from-the-field corn-on-the-cob that no one can resist! Come hungry. Leave full. Our food is truly delicious!

Last, but not least, you "gotta get while the gettin's good" and take home the best of our seasonal produce from our produce market. You won't find fresher fruits and vegetables anywhere - and at such "farm-low" prices. Besides, the variety by October is amazing! We grow and specialize in over 40 different crops here on the farm, and some of our October harvest favorites include a wide assortment of squashes. This is truly the time of year to stock up for freezing, canning, and just good eating.

Enjoy our newest attractions during the October festival including the Cow Train! The Cow Train is for kids and adults interested in taking a tour of the farm via a fun ride over the fields, down dusty roads, and through a maze of farm activities! So much to do in October at The Original Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island!"

We hope that your visit to our farm is memorable. Keep the traditions going within your family - and visit us this October. Remember to dress for the weather and bring your "mud" boots, as the pumpkins rest on ground in their natural habitat.

See you soon!
